Coronation
Imagine seeing the Queen that close as she goes by in her golden carriage! The kiddies will have something to tell their kiddies, won’t they? And a drink of real champagne to go with it! Coronation Day, 2 June 1953! A humble, working-class family from Sheffield is desperate to buy train tickets to London to see the coronation, but doing so means forsaking their annual seaside holiday. After some scrimping and saving, and a family meeting in which the enthusiasm of the children overrules the reluctance of their long-suffering mother and grandmother, the Clagg family take the plunge and buy premium, champagne tickets for the big day.

De Verdronkene
En néerlandais – “De verdronkene” verscheen in april 2005. De eerste druk in een gebonden uitgave, de tweede in een paperbackversie. Deze tweede druk is bij de samenvatting gebruikt. Het is een flinke roman over een noodlottige situatie tijdens de Watersnoodramp van 1953. De roman telt 331 bladzijden. De voorkant van de roman is overwegend blauw met een beetje grijs. Er staat geen afbeelding op de kaft. Op de achterkant staat een foto van de schrijfster en een uiteenzetting van eerder verschenen romans. De flaptekst staat op de één na laatste pagina, wat opmerkelijk mag heten.

Le notaire du Havre
En 1889, la famille Pasquier (Raymond, Lucie et leurs quatre premiers enfants, Joseph, Ferdinand, Laurent et Cécile) tire le diable par la queue dans son petit appartement de la rue Vandamme, quartier Montparnasse à Paris. Raymond poursuit d’interminables et fort tardives études et Lucie fait des travaux de couture et s’occupe de ses enfants. Mais un jour, la famille apprend que Lucie pourrait bénéficier d’un héritage suite au décès de ses deux soeurs au Pérou. L’ennui c’est qu’elle n’en a encore que l’usufruit car le décès de l’une des soeurs n’est pas confirmé. L’argent est donc bloqué. La famille ne récupère que quelques meubles et vit dans l’attente de l’arrivée d’une lettre du « Notaire du Havre » leur annonçant enfin la bonne nouvelle… Mais elle tarde à venir et chaque jour la famille s’enfonce un peu plus dans la misère.
