Coronation
Imagine seeing the Queen that close as she goes by in her golden carriage! The kiddies will have something to tell their kiddies, won’t they? And a drink of real champagne to go with it! Coronation Day, 2 June 1953! A humble, working-class family from Sheffield is desperate to buy train tickets to London to see the coronation, but doing so means forsaking their annual seaside holiday. After some scrimping and saving, and a family meeting in which the enthusiasm of the children overrules the reluctance of their long-suffering mother and grandmother, the Clagg family take the plunge and buy premium, champagne tickets for the big day.

La renarde

Échappant à Reddin dont les instincts chasseurs la révoltent, elle va vers celui qui lui offre un refuge – le Pasteur, qui l’épouse pour la sauver. – Mais la nature est impérieuse, et Hazel ne résiste s a celui qui l’appelle, « comme le pluvier ou temps pas nids… » Comprenant son erreur et sa faute, elle s’enfuit à nouveau vers son véritable ami. Mais les « signes » sont contre elle; la « Meute de la Mort » semble la poursuivre lorsque les chiens s’acharnent sur la piste de la renarde, et toutes deux se précipitent vers la mort qui les sauve.
La loire, Agnès et les garçons
C’est à Saint-Louis, à l’ombre des vieux marronniers et dans l’odeur de pâtisserie chaude et d’absinthe de la fête foraine, que Daniel Bailleul et son ami Jeanneret virent Agnès pour la première fois. Deux garçons et une fille de forains. C’est une belle histoire de la jeunesse, l’apprentissage de la jalousie, les premiers tourments du cœur et des sens. C’est un roman sensible, tendre, plein d’un charme secret, mystérieux, prenant, auquel les bords de la Loire, ce fleuve qui hante toute l’œuvre de Maurice Genevoix, apportent leur lumière et leur transparence heureuse. Car chez ce grand romancier, la nature est présente et vivante, inséparable de nos destins.
