Road Rage
The woods outside of Kingsmarkham were lovely, dark, and deep. And much of them were about to vanish forever when the new highway cut through.
While Chief Inspector Wexford privately despaired about the loss of his hiking grounds, local residents and outsiders were organizing a massive protest. Some of them may have been desperate enough to kidnap five hostages and threaten to kill them. One hostage was Wexford’s wife, Dora.

De Verdronkene
En néerlandais – “De verdronkene” verscheen in april 2005. De eerste druk in een gebonden uitgave, de tweede in een paperbackversie. Deze tweede druk is bij de samenvatting gebruikt. Het is een flinke roman over een noodlottige situatie tijdens de Watersnoodramp van 1953. De roman telt 331 bladzijden. De voorkant van de roman is overwegend blauw met een beetje grijs. Er staat geen afbeelding op de kaft. Op de achterkant staat een foto van de schrijfster en een uiteenzetting van eerder verschenen romans. De flaptekst staat op de één na laatste pagina, wat opmerkelijk mag heten.
La demoiselle d’honneur
Trois femmes occupent l’imagination de Philip : Rebecca, dont l’assassinat supposé passionne Londres ? il éprouve à son sujet une fascination pour la mort qui l’horrifie. Senta, rencontrée au mariage de sa sœur où elle était demoiselle d’honneur. Enfin une statue, représentant la déesse Flore : objet des fantasmes d’adolescent de Philip et propriété d’un personnage peu sympathique, elle ressemble extraordinairement à Senta, avec laquelle il vit une passion vénéneuse. Dans sa recherche du mystère de ces trois femmes, ce sont ses propres énigmes que Philip va peu à peu percer : la violence refoulée, l’inceste latent, l’obsession érotique et la pulsion meurtrière. Dans la parenté de Patricia Highsmith, un des chefs-d’œuvre du roman de psychologie criminelle.
On ne peut pas tout avoir
En cette fin de printemps 1990, Ivor Tesham, étoile montante du gouvernement de Margaret Thatcher et ardent coureur de jupons, décide d’offrir à sa maîtresse un cadeau d’anniversaire mémorable. Il manigance ce que l’on appelle une sex aventure. Il la fait enlever en pleine rue. Elle est consentante, bien qu’elle ne soupçonne rien. Ligotée et bâillonnée, il la fait livrer à domicile. Mais tout ne se passe pas comme prévu… La mort très médiatisée de la séduisante Hebe déclenche une enquête qu’Ivor, jeune ministre ambitieux, souhaite éviter à tout prix. Le scandale est étouffé mais la mort d’une deuxième femme met Ivor au pied du mur: il n’arrive pas à fuir les souvenirs qui le hantent.
