Au début des années 70, Christian Godard, le scénariste, et Mic Delinx, le dessinateur, ont créé un monde qu’il est impossible de trouver sur une carte, mais dont les principaux habitants, de Joe le tigre à Gros Rino, nous ressemblent beaucoup.

Le jour où un célibataire tranquille et discret accepte de prendre en pension, pour trois semaines, le chien de son meilleur ami, sa vie est bouleversée. Néron, boxer bringé, espiègle mais fidèle et tendre, devient vite, avec ses quarante kilos de muscle et de malice canine, un compagnon envahissant. En Anglais McGahern began his career as a schoolteacher at Scoil Eoin Báiste (Belgrove) primary school in Clontarf, Ireland, where, for a period, he taught the eminent academic Declan Kiberd before turning to writing full-time. McGahern’s second novel ‘The Dark’ was banned in Ireland for its alleged pornographic content and implied clerical sexual abuse. In the controversy over this he was forced to resign his teaching post. He subsequently moved to England where he worked in a variety of jobs before returning to Ireland to live and work on a small farm in Fenagh in County Leitrim, located halfway between Ballinamore and Mohill. His third novel ‘Amongst Women’ was shortlisted for the 1990 Man Booker Prize.
He died from cancer in Dublin on March 30, 2006.
La vieille dame de Djerba
Lorsque Joseph Joffo rencontra la vieille dame de Djerba, elle lui dit s'appeler Liza. C'est sans doute, le meilleur livre de Joseph Joffo, depuis “Un sac de billes”, qui l'a rendu mondialement célèbre.

Sean and his twin-brother Garrick grew up on their father’s farm in Natal. The first part of the book deals with his childhood and youth and his longing to become a successful farmer and hard-hitting fighter like his father. The tough life of cattle-farming is brusquely interrupted by the Zulu Wars, when Sean and his brother see fighting for the first time. Wilbur Smith vividly recreates the excitement of the war for the young men-their hope of winning their own cattle, the horror of the massacre at Isandhlwana, the heroism of the defence at Rorkes Drift. ‘Witwatersrand’ is the name of the second part of this book ……
