La biographie manquait; deux journalistes, l'un de France 2, l'autre de RTL, s'en sont chargés. Ils retracent sans surprise, mais malheureusement sans impertinence, les étapes de l'ascension programmée d'un jeune technocrate arrivé un peu par hasard au cabinet de Chirac à Matignon en 1976, qui lorgne en s'en cachant à peine l'Elysée pour 2002. Cette biographie est aussi le portrait d'un animal politique un peu moins froid qu'il n'en a l'air.
